From the Youth Director at Lake Highlands UMC

Howdy everybody!!

Hope you all are having a super week and enjoying these beautiful HOT summer days!!

This last week for Hangtime about 35 of us went to Exhale to do some yoga, core work, stretching. It was so much fun - and a really hard workout!

At the end of the workout the instructor made us take a few moments to close our eyes and reflect on the beautiful, healthy bodies that God had blessed us with.....and how blessed we were to use them.....and how grateful we should feel to have them.

I forget that. I forget how lucky or really, blessed, I am to have such a healthy body. I think we all do.

It's funny how easy it is to forget. Or never realize at all.

When my mom was my age (38) she was a year away from being diagnosed with breast cancer. From the time she was diagnosed to the time she passed away (14 years later), her body was never the same. The first 38 years of her life she ran, walked, played, swam - used her body all the time! And for the last 14, I watched her deteriorate.

You would think after watching that, I would never go a day without appreciating my health. But until you're sick, or something breaks, how do you know?

Have you ever broke your small toe? Or injured your pinkie? Or had a canker sore? Ingrown toenail? It's funny, All those little things seems so insignificant - until you need your pinkie, small toe - or want to eat with a canker sore. You begin to realize what an intricate design our bodies are - and what care God took to make them - give them to us. What gifts they are....

I hope you take a moment to appreciate - and take advantage of the beautiful body God has designed and given to you. It might not always stay that way - and it's important to appreciate the ease at which most of us move, live, run, play.............
Use that beautiful body God gave you!! That's why He gave it to you.... ; ))
